Discussion with phd Mirjana Ule, social psychologist and full professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences in Ljubljana, phd Roman Kuhar, full professor at the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, Melani Centrih, high school headteacher (Gimnazija Ptuj) and phd Matjaž Konvalinka, associate professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics in Ljubljana.

Reason it was developed

To highlight the role of education system in the case of prejudices and stereotypes and the presence of discrimination, violence based on sexual orientation, gender identity and sexual expression of individuals. In order to show different aspects of the mentioned topic, to show the challenges and problems faced by LGBTI individuals in education (both schoolchildren and employees), and to improve knowledge about in the field of LGBTI issues among employees in kindergartens and schools and other interested parties.

Activities

The contributions of the guest speakers were followed by questions and discussion with the participants on the presented topic.

Results

The participants discussed many aspects of the wider introduction of the LGBTI coordinator institute, highlighted the issue of reducing the possibilities for addressing diversity in primary school curricula.
