Duration

Ongoing.

Partnership

Government.

Reason it was developed

To improve the representation of women in decision-making structures.

Activities

In the recruitment ads for school leadership positions, it is explicitly stated that women candidates are encouraged to apply and when the qualifications of the candidates are equal, women candidates would be preferred. There is a national equality commission against which cases and complaints can be brought forward. The trade union supports such cases and provides assistance to their members when bringing forward the cases. Every year there is an annual national report published on women’s advancement progress. The report also reports on the progress in women occupying decision-making positions.

Results

In the recruitment for leadership positions, the education institutions face a general shortage of suitable candidates. Therefore, efforts to encourage more female candidates to apply would be welcome to close the leadership gaps.

Funding

Public funding / union internal funds.
